ONE STRIP FLOOR

The surface layer of every 1-strip board is sawn from a single piece of wood. The natural appearance of the wood, with knots and variations in the colour and grain, is truly reflected in 1-strip flooring. However, for some of our 1-strip floors, we have especially selected wood to achieve little variation in colour and a minimum of knots, so that you can find a floor which suits your style.

WHAT SURFACE DO YOU PREFER?

SATIN MATT LACQUER

Silk matt lacquer makes the floor very hardwearing and easier to clean. Our silk matt lacquer also complements the wood’s character by accentuating its natural living structure and natural beauty.

MATT LACQUER

Our matt lacquer almost gives the impression that the floor is completely untreated bare wood, or treated with natural oil. The soft-to-touch natural surface is incredibly tactile and pleasing underfoot. Matt lacquer is as hardwearing and easy to maintain as silk matt lacquer..

BEVEL EDGE

Bevelling the edges of a i-strip floorboard accentuates its plank shape quite dramatic, a stronger bevel on all edges is a design features that give the floor a rustic and distinct look.

MICRO BEVEL EDGE

Bevelling the edges of a i-strip floorboard accentuates its plank shape. A micro-bevel edge gives a slight accentuation of the edge using sandpaper on all edges, which is a design features that give the floor a more distinct look.

SOFT BRUSHED

Brushing the surface highlights the natural structure of the grain and creates additional texture. Brushing is usually accompanied by other surface treatments, such as a bevelled finish and a coloured stain or glaze.

SQUARE EDGE

Square edges will give the floor a very even and soft look, where the edges of the i-strip floor are barely visible.

HARD FACTS

By their very nature, different wood species have different levels of hardness. The hardness is measured using the Brinell method. This involves pressing a 10mm diameter steel ball against the parquet surface with prescribed force and duration. The resultant indentation is then measured, and the Brinell value is calculated. The harder the wood, the higher the Brinell value. (The structure of wood means there can be variations, but the specified value is the average, taken from a large number of measurements.)
