Types of Wood Used in Flooring

Dark Woods
We use several types of dark wood for our flooring and the first is oak. Oak is a dense type of timber, which means that it is strong, hard and quite durable. It is also very beautiful, particularly when it is quarter-sawn. This makes it a good choice for those looking for a dark timber that will stand the test of time.
Walnut is another one of our dark stained timbers. It is a straight-grained hardwood that is quite strong and stable. As one of our more premium timbers, walnut can really compliment the look of your home when treated correctly.
Jarrah is our other dark timber. It is a large hardwood that is found in only one place in the world – the southwestern region of Western Australia. It is usually found in rich red to deep brown colours, and its coarse texture perfectly complements these shades. Jarrah is a durable wood that is ideal for flooring and looks amazing.
Medium Woods
We have a few options for medium-coloured woods, all of which are made from American Cherry, a highly prized hardwood. These surfaces range from a rich red to a reddish brown (with the sapwood being a creamy white). It has a fine, uniform grain that has a rather smooth texture. It is easy to work and is often used in the manufacturing of musical instruments. It is a fine choice of flooring for those that are looking for an elegant aesthetic in their home or business.
Light Woods
There are several types of stained light woods for those looking for a lighter feel for their home or office. Ash is one such timber, which is both strong and stable and is commonly used in flooring. Another is Beech, which is often a pale creamy colour. Finally, there is Maple, another fine choice for those seeking a lighter look for their flooring.
