Dark engineered wood floors have a rich and warm aesthetic that exudes class. If you prefer dark wood over light wood, don’t let anything change your mind. Sure, light wood can make rooms appear bigger and can hide dusty floors better, but we’re here to back up your preference for the moodier look with our guide to cleaning dark engineered wood floors.
First of all, engineered wood is resistant to excess moisture in the form of condensation and accidental spills. This means the wood is less likely to bend or bow. So this flooring will be more durable than alternatives. If you prefer darker wood, they show up dust a little more. Here’s how to successfully clean them.
Step #1
The most important step in cleaning dark wood flooring is to sweep them in order to collect all the surface dirt and dust in one place. You can do this with a soft sweeping brush or microfibre mop that attracts dirt. The importance of this is to stop small stones or hard debris from scratching the surface of your wood.
Step #2
The easiest way to remove this collected dirt is with a dustpan and brush or a quick vacuum if that’s easier.
Step #3
Mopping using some warm water and floor cleaner will remove the tough stuff. This lifts stains and ingrained dirt from your floor surfaces. Ensure your mop isn’t dripping wet and always allow your floors to air dry after mopping.
We would recommend giving them a quick sweep twice per month, a full clean (sweep and mop) is good to do once per month and they should be refinished every 10 years.
It’s as simple as that. Dark wood floors show off the fine pattern in the wood and look great in living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms.
